Local landmark of Albany, the downtown train station clocktower, located on SW 10th Ave, stands tall and out, especially after dark here on December 2nd of 2025.  Jason Kihlstadius placing his order at a local hotspot, Reeners Smash Burgers food truck off Pacific, is a hot commodity, especially after dark. His heart is set on the double with a side of tater tots. Reeners has added to their menu, giving customers something to think about. Local shredders carve up the half pipe at the Albany skate park Tuesday night. Kids to adults take advantage of what the park has to offer and challenge each other with creative minds and ingenuity, especially after dark.  

 “It’s What I Do” Book Report  This term I got to read Lynsey Addario’s memoir It’s What I Do, and right away I realized this woman lives a life that is on a completely different level than most of us will ever even imagine. There were a lot of powerful moments in the book, but the part that stuck with me the most was around pages 170 to 172, where she talked about being kidnapped in Libya. The way she describes that whole experience, from the fear and the chaos and still thinking about her camera and the story. That hit me hard. I kept thinking, most people would’ve quit right then. But not her. She gets out, and she goes back to work. That moment told me exactly what kind of person she is: somebody who’s driven by purpose more than comfort, and someone who’s willing to take real risks for the truth.   November 11th, 2025 Albany hosts the largest veterans day parade this side of the Mississippi. People arrive from all over to attend and pay tribute to those who have served. So many people participating, over 180 entries and nearly 1,000 musicians from middle school, high school, and college bands!  

  I chose LaToya Ruby Frazier for my photographer of the week. She stuck out to me solely because my oldest daughter's favorite auntie is a phenomenal photographer and her name happens to be LaToya, so I was drawn to this name and upon further research I ended up very happy with my decision.  LaToya grew up in Pennsylvania and was drawn to photography at an early age. She grew particularly fond of the link between community and inside documentation therein. She revised social documentary style from the traditional Dorothea Lange or Walker Evans. Inspiration was created from Gordon Parks, who promoted the camera as a weapon for social justice. Graduating at 17 she pursued her education under a new mentor, Kathe Kowalski, obtaining, in 2004, a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Photography and Graphic Design from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.  Veterans day 2025, Albany celebrates Americas veterans with the biggest parade this side of the Mississippi in honor of those who have sacrificed for our freedoms.

  This student (Travis) from LBCC studies November 6 at the Math Cafe, above the library on the Albany campus. The Math Cafe provides students with access and assistance to help with math specifically, however just outside in the Learning Center help is available to a much broader scope of curriculars.  Brady Pedersen, photographer and creator of Brady Pedersen Studio, enjoys one of his favorite hobbies on November 6 in roadrunner territory. Beep beep! Pedersen lives in Portland but enjoys visiting his friends he grew up with and his hometown of Sweet Home as often as he can.  This student enjoys the view and the vibes Fall has to offer.
